Stephen Goldberg, MD, MBA

Steve Goldberg is Humana's Corporate Medical Director for Clinical Policy.  In his role, Dr. Goldberg has responsibility for the commercial medical directors that conduct clinical review, Quality Management, Technology Assessment and, he represents the company in external clinical policy forums.  Prior to his present role, he served as a Regional Chief Medical Officer for Excellus BCBS, a Network Medical Director for Aetna and as a PHO medical director in Upstate NY.  Steve's academic interests are in the areas of quality promotion in clinical practice.  In 2005, he served as project manager for the Collaborative Appropriate Antibiotic Prescribing Initiative (CAAPI).  In 2005, the program was recognized with 2 "Best of Blue," awards by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

Steve graduated from Georgetown University with an A.B. in Philosophy, earned his M.D. degree at Jefferson Medical College, completed a Family Practice residency at the Wilson Regional Medical Center in Upstate NY and an MBA at Binghamton University.  Steve was a practicing physician through 2005.  He and his family live in Louisville, KY.
