June, 2008 - HSRC in joint bid with University of Illinois at Chicago DEcIDE Center for AHRQ Grant

The University of Miami – Humana Health Services Research Center (HSRC) joined hands with the University of Illinois at Chicago's Developing Evidence to Inform Decisions about Effectiveness (DEcIDE) Center to bid on a contract for participation in the formation of a Diabetes Multi Center Research Consortium (DMCRC). The formation of the DMCRC is an initiative by the US Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to strategically and comprehensively address significant knowledge gaps in diabetes.

The Chicago Center is one of the 13 centers nationally funded by the AHRQ under the "Developing Evidence to Inform Decisions about Effectiveness" (DEcIDE) Research Network. This group of centers was formed to assist the federal government in evaluating the new Medicare Part D drug benefit, with the mandate for such evaluation included in the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003.

The HSRC team is looking forward to building strong relationships with premier research centers nationally and create opportunities for collaborative research.
